Advisory Forum on Mental Health Services and Young People -  Healthwatch Devon is the consumer champion for health and social care in Devon.From January to March 2015 they aim to get young people's voices heard more clearly in the debate about mental health services and the Advisory Forum on the 2nd December (10.00am 4.00pm at the ISCA Centre, Exeter) will invite interested parties to help them shape their approach. DCC Budget - Over the past four years the County Councilís funding has been cut by 27% as a result of a Government squeeze on local government spending and savings of nearly £128 million have been made. This year (2015/16) a further saving of £50 million is required as a result of the Governmentís latest Comprehensive Spending Review. This will be followed by a saving of at least £34 million in 2016/17. Join the debate about the future of local services and influence our decisions about budget spending priorities for 2015/16. 12.11.14

Tough Choices: Community Solutions - this is a free event on 4th December for community groups and organisations across Devon with an interest in taking over a public service or asset and will provide a way for connecting with like-minded people; sharing skills, knowledge and experience; specialist advice and support. This event will be facilitated by trained social enterprise business advisors and is designed to enable peer networking so that skills, experience and knowledge can be shared at whichever stage of the journey you are on. There will also be an opportunity for groups to connect with the existing support available through the Community Council of Devonís Social Enterprise Service. 12.11.14

Did you know Ö that VOYC provides practical help and support to help local groups develop their services?  Since the beginning of September Mark Goodman has been working with nine organisations helping them review their Child Protection policies, advising on Child Protection induction training and DBS checks. If you organisation needs help on these or any other area of work with children and young people then please contact the VOYC office - help is a phone call or email away! 22.10.14
