What We Do
VOYC Devon is a well-respected specialist infrastructure network for those voluntary and community sector groups that work with and for children and young people. Established in 1964, VOYC is a diverse and rapidly growing network of networks of national youth organisations and children and young people’s organisations. The membership includes network organisations; these include Devon Scouts and Girlguiding, Individual youth and community organisations that work with and for young people and affiliates. All these together support a network of just over 2500 children and young people’s settings.
Often called ‘Second tier’ or ‘Umbrella’ organisations, they support frontline Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Organisations. Infrastructure organisations such as VOYC provide structures, systems, relationships, people, knowledge and skills to support and develop, coordinate, represent and promote front line organisations, thus enabling them to deliver their missions more effectively.
VOYC provides a range of safeguarding support and child protection training within the community in association with the Devon Safeguarding Children’s Board. VOYC provides helpful guidance on a variety of safeguarding / child protection topics to help you keep children and young people safe.
The Child Protection Training is specifically aimed at voluntary and community organisations. The Training is split into three groups; Group 1 (Induction), Group 2 (Awareness) and Group 3 (for Designated Safeguarding Officers). VOYC work closely with Devon Safeguarding Children’s Board and is an approved deliverer of their Group 2 and 3 (Designated Officers) training.
VOYC works with and supports a diverse network of voluntary and community children and young people’s organisations. Our membership represents a wide range of sizes and scales of agencies - from small, local community groups to large national charities. All our members are working directly with or for the benefit of young people in Devon.
