Did you know … that VOYC provides practical help and support to help local groups develop their services?  Since the beginning of September Mark Goodman has been working with nine organisations helping them review their Child Protection policies, advising on Child Protection induction training and DBS checks. If you organisation needs help on these or any other area of work with children and young people then please contact the VOYC office - help is a phone call or email away! 22.10.14

Staying Put Legislation - On behalf of the Children’s Partnership, the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) is carrying out an online survey looking at the initial impact and implementation of the staying put legislation. The questionnaire is confidential and findings will be reported anonymously to the Department for Education in January 2015.  The survey will be open until Friday 24th October.

Free Early Help Awareness…. Remaining Sessions - There are FREE sessions across Devon, each providing a short, 3 hour, introduction to Early Help and explaining the processes as well as the link between Early Help, DAF, MASH and SEND and explaining the revised ways of working. Early Help Awareness Training 21.10.14

Create a Whole Organisation Culture with Coaching at its Heart - this is a collaborative professional development partnership event on 5th November from Learning South West to be held in Taunton.  They are looking to bring together professionals, partners and coaching practitioners, both experienced and new to coaching, in order to promote the tangible, transformational and sustainable results achieved through a developed programme of coaching. The ambition is to cascade and create a coaching culture within organisations allowing individuals the freedom to flourish. 15.10.14

DSCB Business Plan 2014-15 has been approved and is available along with a  DSCB Business Plan Summary of priorities. The Annual Report and Business Plan will be published on the website. 14.10.14

St Loye’s Foundation and Community Care Trust - These two Devon-based charities have merged to form a new group structure they say will improve the independence and wellbeing of people with complex needs. The disability and training charity the St Loye’s Foundation, which is based in Exeter and has an annual turnover of £5m, has combined with the mental health charity the Community Care Trust, which is based in Newton Abbot and has an annual income of £2.3m. The charities said the move was expected to enable the delivery of services to more people, including enhanced specialist support in recovering from mental illness and better training and employment services. 08.10.14
