Incorporation and the Role of the Charity Secretary
The charity secretary is often described as the conscience of the organisation. Secretaries are involved in helping charities to comply with a range of legal requirements as well as the sometimes elusive requirements of 'good practice' in governance. In this session, Shivaji Shiva of Michelmores, Solicitors will review the duties of charity secretaries and consider the pros and cons of incorporation; reviewing the governing document; the Companies Act 2006; managing the AGM and streamlining administration; an update on the Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The focus throughout will be on the impact of these changes on the day to day management of voluntary organisations. Contact Sue Hooper-Lawrie sue.hooperlawrie@exetercvs.org.uk
