What does it offer young people?
Our training is designed to develop your full potential and leadership qualities. You will learn about Drill, Skill at Arms, Target Shooting, Field Craft, Map & Compass, Camp craft, Adventurous Training, First Aid and Citizenship.
You will also be encouraged to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme and a wide range of sporting activities.
Free Uniform Loan After a short trial period you will be issued with a uniform on loan-which you will have to look after and return when you leave the ACF. You will, however, be asked to buy your own boots-which is a small price to pay for so much.
When do we meet? Our Detachments parade on one or two nights each week, depending on the location. As well as the activities arranged week by week there is also the opportunity to attend training days, weekends and a weeks annual camp in the summer. There are also chances for you to visit Regular Army units and courses both in this country and abroad.
The Star Award Training Scheme? When you join the Army Cadet Force, you will join a progressive learning scheme called Star Awards. Each Star level has the same subject, but as you become more experienced as a cadet, you will be taught more and more in each subject.
