What Does VYS Devon Do

VYS Devon has six Aims these are:

1. To provide practical help to maintain and develop the children and young people’s voluntary sector to enhance  work with and the services provided for children and young people;

2. Supporting, developing and promoting collaboration and networking to enable the sector to access and make appropriate use of a wide range of resources and to help the sector to value and make the best use of the people that can support their work with young people;

3. The development of youth work policy and promoting best practice;

4. Enabling the children and young people’s voluntary sector to have a voice and influence;

5. VYS being proactive in extending its delivery of infrastructure support services;

6. Having efficient and effective systems in place for the governance and development of the network in line with charity commission guidelines.

VYS (Devon) works closely with the Devon Youth Service and a range of other bodies/agencies whose ultimate aim is to improve the lives of young people in Devon.

VYS is largely funded by Devon County Council and distributes grant to a number of its member organisations as well as offering a range of other services - for further details see Membership Principles of VYS Devon.
