WORKING TOGETHER TO SAFEGUARD CHILDREN
This is guidance from the then DfES that includes specific guidance for local authority and voluntary run youth services. The main points are that youth and community workers should be alert to signs of abuse and neglect, and know how to act on concerns. Local authorities are encouraged to make safeguarding procedures part of contractual arrangements when commissioning, to ensure the same standards apply whoever is delivering services. For the full guidance see www.everychildmatters.gov.uk and the DCSF also publishes summary notes for frontline youth professionals – ring 0870.000.2288.
