Travelling the world is great. Getting paid to do it is better.
If you’ve ever had that thought but feel like it’s only a pipe dream then think again! We’re proof that when you set your mind to it, you will have the ability to get paid to travel.
Every single day, more and more people grow tired of their regular 9 to 5 job and want to change things up, but it’s not as easy as dropping off a resignation notice and picking up a ticket for Berlin. You will need to learn how to earn money online, get paid to write online or locate travel jobs while travelling.
But I think it’s essential, before you take off, to work out how to get paid to travel. At least have something to fall back on as you’re trying to find jobs, although it doesn’t have to be an enormous sum of money.
With that out of the way, here are three, tried and tested ways I get paid to travel all around the world:
1. Public Speaking
We’ve been to many conferences around the world and were invited to speak at one. Whether in the travel area or not, if you’re knowledgeable in a specific subject (business, finance, tech, fitness, etc.), then there’ll be a conference or event to you.
Friends of ours create a wonderful income by being invited as keynote speakers to various events around the world.
Many times, when the convention was over (keeping in mind, you have been flown there to talk, put up in a swanky hotel, provided all meals and got a salary), they’ll be free to tour around neighbouring cities in the nation.
2. Teaching English (Or any other language)
When we began searching online for teaching jobs in China, we were overwhelmed with the number of schools available.
We settled on signing a 1 year teaching agreement. We would be earning $1,500 per month, while getting Mandarin lessons, lodging, health insurance and bonuses.
We had our travel costs covered! Flew to China, and then onwards to Mongoliain. Plus, we worked 20 hours / week, which gave us a lot of time.
3. Freelance Writing / Journalism
If you don’t wish to start a site and work on your own, you can elect to be a freelance writer or journalist (or, do both). Online and in print publications will pay you to write a post for them. Think of what you focus in and begin pitching companies. Who knows, in just a couple weeks, you can get paid to write online.
Just like travel blogging, the great thing about this job is. Work on your pyjamas from anywhere in the world.
Some of the larger publications (National Geographic, New York Times, etc.) will literally send you out on work.
It won’t feel like work if you do what you love. There are lots of travel jobs on the market, but for us, we love travelling, being with one another, and sharing our journey with others. Blogging is definitely our favourite way to get paid to travel, and if you like photography, writing, connecting with other people, and social media, then I urge you to create a site too.
I hope this list gave you some inspiration for ways to save money at home and how to get paid to travel.
Congratulations, and good luck!
Vys Devon is simply, a travelling lady, hence the title of this site. She has travelled extensively throughout the known world (and even some off beat places), but thats who she is. In fact, there are many ladies she travels with and many of them contribute their experiences and adventures here.
Grab a cup of coffee, sit back on your laptop or tablet and enjoy some of the experiences, advice on travelling and lots of do’s and dont’s of travelling with these experienced worldly travellers.
